Early Childhood Screening is a check-up on how your child is growing and developing. Early Childhood Screening is a REQUIREMENT before children start kindergarten.
It's best to screen children when they are 3 years old, but screening can also be done at ages 4 and 5.
Three reasons to screen at age 3:
1. Screening helps your child get ready for school.
2. Any health, learning, or developmental concerns are found early and supports/resources are provided sooner.
3. Your family will learn about community resources that are available to your family.
At your child's screening, staff will check your child's:
-
Hearing & Vision
-
Height & Weight
-
Large & small muscles (movement, balance & fine motor skills)
-
Language, communication & thinking skills
-
Social-Emotional development
-
Immunization (shot) records
