Early Childhood Family Education FAQs

What is ECFE?

Early Childhood Family Education (ECFE) is a community program for families with young children, from birth through kindergarten. ECFE supports parents and caregivers as their child’s first and most important teachers.

Who does ECFE serve?

ECFE serves families in the community with young children, including parents, grandparents, and other caregivers. Programs are designed to welcome families of all backgrounds and experiences.

What happens in ECFE?

In ECFE classes, children participate in age-appropriate play and learning activities while parents and caregivers have time to connect with educators and other adults. Families learn about child development, parenting strategies, and ways to support children’s growth at home.

What are the benefits of ECFE?

Families who participate in ECFE:

  • Learn more about how young children grow, learn, and develop
  • Build confidence in their parenting and caregiving skills
  • Connect with other families and reduce isolation
  • Help children develop social, emotional, and early learning skills
  • Build strong relationships that support school readiness and lifelong learning

ECFE helps strengthen families, support young children, and build a more connected and caring community.
